Greenspan Renews Warning on Budget Deficits.  My belief for 20 years has been that Republicans never took on the real work of pushing for spending cuts - a lot of people don’t want “their” goodies taken away. They starved the government but could also claim to support the right spending on programs their constituents favored. By pushing off deficits into the future they have their cake and get elected too.
