This book is both redeeming -  many individuals inside this republican administration fought the good fight in support of the constitution and the rule of law - and disturbing. The narrow group of individuals -  Cheney, Addington, Gonzales, Yoo - could frustrate these efforts and tarnish through secrecy, torture and arrogance the reputation of the United States and  the most basic and valued Western concepts of legal process and civil liberties.
